Here's a post to keep people out of the Thanksgiving leftovers!

But, seriously: I feel sorry for the patient -- having been one -- and I assume his embarrassment to be genuine.

Thanks for not making him feel worse....

And thanks so much for the link! I've reciprocated, of course (or I will as soon as I submit this....)

Gosh. It was Thanksgiving??? I've been working really hard lately... Couldn't be bothered with holidays. And we don't celebrate Thanksgiving in England anyway, so I guess I'll just have the turkey come Christmas Day.

I'm ever so grateful with Cleaners as we call them here, for some reason, housekeepers sound a bit better. A bit dignified. They certainly make your job a lot easier. Makes me feel guilty at times when I'm busy and can't avoid spilling stuff on the floor. I always make it a point to be really polite to them and avoid being messy all the time.

That big turkey quip from your last year's post is really wicked.

We don't get to call the housekeepers in my hospital either.
I have no problem with BM/Diarrhea, vomit or any other excreted bodily fluids/smells, EXCEPT phlegm.
Wiping mentholatum umder my nose doesn't work, because it is a visual/viscous thing for me.
I have a resident with throat cancer, and I would rather wipe his ass than his mouth.

The nurses on our unit treat the housekeepers like gold. When they come up, we help them however we can. Our hospital treats them poorly, so we make sure they know that we appreciate them. When patient makes a mess, our housekeeps never give us grief about cleaning it up.

Oooh! I must admire those housekeepers. I think I myself couldn't clean up that mess myself.

Gosh, you can be thankful for those housekeepers indeed; in our hospital we are expected to clean that kind of messes ourselves.
I just read your last year's post from Thanksgiving, and I had something similar happen last year. A woman in her 4o's that completely unexpected coded and died. It sucked!

I have a pretty strong stomach, but someone's vomit will make my gag reflex start and my eyes water.

I'm sure they've had to clean up alot worse, but you're right-bless the housekeeping ladies.
