When I was in England one time, I bought a cassette recorder and asked for a cord. The salesperson asked, "Do you want to wrap it up?" At which point I said, "Huh?" I pointed to the electric plug and said, "I want to plug it in" And he said, "Oh, you want a mains!" I guess. It was very funny and took several minutes to straighten out.
