can you tell if you had a REALLY bad haircut?
YES.
because people at work, mostly nurses, who, in general are tactful, upon seeing you after a haircut, say things like:
“you cut your hair…” (like i didn’t know it)
“it’s really short…” (like i haven’t noticed)
“it’s okay May, it WILL grow.” (like i am not aware of THAT)
“WHY did you cut your hair?” (like i have not asked myself that)
WHO cut your hair? (like i am supposed to take legal action)
and my favorite….
“do YOU like it?” (like DUH!)
to which i respond:
i don’t. i asked her to shave it off, but she was concerned it wouldn’t suit me, so she LEFT some hair on.
to which they all say:
“oooohhhhhh…….”
with lips dramatically pouted so i can feel a sense of empathy.
i should have suffered.
so what if there was a heatwave? and summer is not even halfway?

YIKES! I’ve had all those exact comments made to me on several occasions after a new hair cut or style….. hmmmm. You mean they weren’t being complimentary????

Even worse is when they notice that you have dyed (to touch up the roots) your hair. Every time someone says to me “Oh you have dyed your hair”, I start doing it a week sooner. now I am doing it darn near weekly. I think people take inspection of my roots daily.
I bet your hair looks very nice.

Been bald 3 times… its refreshing and cold.
Had the worst haircut of all time 5 weeks ago.
Will take a couple of hair cuts to repair the damage.
Little gay stylist has lost my custom and that of all of my friends.
On the up side the salon owner did give me a very short patch job… couldn’t paste it back on ….had to go uber short and i can carry it off….
Who knew???
And I got a colour and foils for free as well as a voucher for the next one free!!!
Thats if I ever grow enough hair to need it cut again.
Its winter…
Not the best time for uber short hair!!!
Thank God for Beanies and Bandannas.

May:
Funny, I got my hair cut recently, and got sort of the same response.
Not that I did anything radical to my hair, since I get it cut (about an inch off) every 6-8 weeks.
I looked at the source of the “Oh, you got your hair cut.” commenter.
I don’t like her hair, either, but I keep it to myself.
I just chalk it up to jealously, because I can make my hair look radically different, just by letting it air dry (think very curly).
Some people just have to make a comment. I just smile and say “that’s nice.” Hair grows back. Who cares what it looks like? It’s not non-professional.
I’d go bald, too, but I’m always afraid of what I’ll find on my scalp (port wine stains or something).

When we had a heat wave of several days in the 90’s, I ask to have it cut short. I know that it doesn’t look good. It makes my fat face look twice as fat, but I don’t care. It’s summer, it’s hot, and I need relief. It’s very humid in some of the facilities that I work in.
